Oliver got to see his very first fireworks this year on Canada Day, and they were instantly his favourite thing in the world. The wonder on his face, the way it looks when someone is seeing what can only be described as pure magic more than makes up for the grainy quality of these photos. I wasn't on my best photo game but how could I be? I was so busy watching the show I couldn't be bothered. My back was turned toward the fireworks almost the entire time because there was nothing more beautiful or incredible that night than the light in this little boy's face. Real magic was happening in front of him, and he squealed and cheered and oohed in wonder.

Moments like this one help me remember what's really important. Moments like this one are like a common time machine, transporting me back to a time when I was so little, and so full of wonder, and the entire world seemed like it was at my fingertips, waiting to be discovered and made new by my footsteps. He is my fireworks, and I get to see the magic of the world through his eyes every day. I am without a doubt the luckiest girl in the world.
