05.14.15 // Mother's Day Recap

My Mothers Day was the entire weekend long, and was insanely awesome. I got to have an amazing slow-cooked ribs lunch with our dear friends Erin and Scott (and check out their rockin' new patio.) We played some Smash Bros, and then it was off to Altona. There my mom and I stopped in for the last two minutes of the Spring Pop-Up Market craft sale in town. I was hoping to get some more time there, but my mom takes as long as I do to get ready and out the door. There is so much talent in my "home town" and it's so great that they hold events like this, to showcase it and help the makers get their names out there. (My favourites were: Locally made coffee by Owl Tree Coffee Co. by Jeremy & Jan Funk, beautiful hand-painted art prints made by MaeHandmade's Richelle Bergen, and I got there too late for a photo, but stunning upcycled and handcrafted accessories by Creatria's Whitney Janz and Josee Schroeder.) After the craft sale we grabbed some coffee and cheesecake, and did some thrift store shopping, before capping off the day with a faspa-style supper and board games with the fam-jam.

On Sunday (actual Mother's Day) my husband brought me waffles/strawberries/whipped cream/coffee in bed in the morning, and when I finally emerged from my bed (at my leisure, I should add) he surprised me with a new bike on the front porch. A new bike, people. A bike. A bicycle. I was so excited. I'm still so excited. I haven't owned my own bike since I was a little girl, and I rode it around the yard pretending it was a horse did cool wheelies. We went for a morning bike ride all together around the block. Then I got to shower and do my hair without little ones tugging at me, and we headed off to the city for some lunch at Mongo's, some Toys R' Us window shopping, and Petland adventures. Then a McCafe Vanilla Chai Frappe for the ride home, and a relaxing evening all together. Honestly, it couldn't have been better. It was low key but exciting and surprising, eventful but relaxing. I am so grateful to be surrounded by people so loving and supportive. What is this life?

  1. Thanks for the shout out, Holly! It was nice to see you at the pop-up market. I love reading your blog, it is like having a friend over for a chat without the stress of having to clean my house, lol! Hope you get your computer back soon!
