The other day, Oliver discovered he could make Theodore go anywhere he wanted if he made a trail of Froot Loops for him to follow. Needless to say, my house was soon covered in rainbow cereal, and stepped on rainbow cereal, and rainbow cereal crumbs. I have to admit, though, it was quite entertaining. The kid doesn't have a dog, what do you expect? Theodore noticed me up on the dining room taking photos (of course) and climbed up to take a closer look.
On Friday evening I headed over to my girlfriend Erin's house for a girl's night, which for some weird reason we haven't done in ages. We ate delicious pizza and painted our nails and talked and watched a chick flick and it was flawless. It was just so nice. She and I don't really get a lot of one-on-one conversation because it's usually the four of us, but I must make sure to schedule things like this more often, too. It was just delightful.
Saturday was our town-wide garage sale! What a great opportunity to get rid of some of the big furniture we've had sitting around forever (and maybe make a little cash, too.) Half way through the day I told Matt "Nobody is going to buy anything." And he laughed at me and told me that it was just piles of our shame in the driveway for all to see. Jokingly of course. I don't like the feeling of garage sales. Pressure to price things right, the difficulty in letting things go that you have assigned sentimental value to (our queen sized bed frame we had when we were first married, etc.) and the whole... bartering thing. I just don't like it. And I was imagining with dread the moment at the end of the day when you take inventory of everything you have left and realize you have to cart it all back into your house again.
However, we sold ALMOST EVERYTHING. I can't even believe it. Two couches, a bed frame, a large hutch, an armchair and bike trailer for our friends, and a bunch of little old appliances and things! It was amazing! And cleansing! It went so much better than I thought it would, and we didn't even put up signs or anything! I'm just so pleased with the day. In the evening Matt's mom and brother babysat for us while we went out on a much needed date night (finally!!) We went to see a movie, then had some Starbucks and perused books at Chapters, then went for a stroll through Home Sense. Matt didn't want to, except while we were there we found something amazing and bought it on the spot. I don't want to spoil it quite yet, but I'm telling you it's so so awesome.
Sunday was a relaxing day at home. Matt spent most of the day mudding the basement, which is a job that I hate but also urgently needs to get done. I want the basement done equally as badly as I want him to NOT go downstairs to do it. There's just no right answer. But it looks like we're nearing the homestretch on the mudding and sanding, so fingers crossed we can get to the cleanup stage this week!!
