What a lovely Easter weekend we had. For the first time ever, we had no Easter obligations. No gatherings or places we absolutely had to be, and it was just lovely. We spent the entire weekend stretching out our Easter traditions, cooking delicious food and treats, and making up some new activities which will surely become fast family traditions in the years to come.
Oliver got to try his hand at egg dying for the first time ever, and it was a big hit. We didn't do anything particularly special, just the usual food colouring / vinegar / hot water deal. But he loved it so so much, it was like second Christmas. He also loved eating them (I think he had four in one sitting.)
We also took some time to bake some healthy rustic-looking gluten free carrot muffins (for the Easter bunny!) with cream cheese glaze and sprinkled with my home made nut granola. They were so so delicious, and Oliver got to help me mix them, and dip them in the glaze in the end. Though when it came time for eating them, he just ate the tops off and left the rest for dead. If only we could all live our lives with such abandon...
On Saturday evening we had some dear friends over for a board game night, and enjoyed more goodies and good times. My collection of pearls in my treasure chest is slowly growing, it seems, with more and more quality lasting friendships blossoming around me. I'm a lucky girl.
Today we're going to try one more Easter tradition attempt, though I'll save it as a surprise for tomorrow's post. And the kids will get their official Easter egg hunt next Saturday at their Grandma's Easter event, for which they are counting down the days.
