The halls have been decked! We started a new tradition here that each kiddo gets to pick out a new ornament to hang on the tree, so we headed down to Canadian Tire for a little ornament shopping. Did I make suggestions? Of course. I just couldn't have hot pink hamburgers hanging from my Christmas tree. Couldn't do it. Don't judge me. Luckily, Oliver completely fell in love with a glass ornament with a real peacock feather inside (of course) and Theodore picked out a little burlap-looking snowman, because he's super into snowmen lately (note the jammies.) They got to hang their special little ornaments themselves and I didn't even move them. Anyone who knows me know that's a big deal. Just letting the ornaments sit there, perhaps a little too close to a nearby pine cone? Nailed it this year, and it wasn't even that hard. I think Christmas is actually "letting my heart be light" this year, and I love every second of it.
We only live a short half hour drive from where most of my readers are, so I know it's hard for some of you to understand how we even have our tree up (considering the temperature got to +10 today!) but we still have snow here in my town, so it doesn't feel too out of place. It sort of feels like one of those Christmases like you see on the movies, where nobody wears anything more than a knitted sweater and toque outside. I would not complain if this were the trend for the months ahead.
I feel so behind on blogging since so much has been going on over here lately, but it's precisely because so much has been going on that I haven't had time to blog. Matt and I headed out for our anniversary celebration last weekend so I'll have a little recap of those events coming soon, as well as our big Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade day a week ago which is quickly becoming one of my favourite traditions. But for now I'll be spending the rest of the evening suppressing my overwhelming nesting instincts, because it's all I can do to NOT go on a rampage around the house cleaning and sterilizing everything, and painting walls and building shelves and being altogether too unreasonable for a big round pregnant lady to be, especially considering the pinching ache in my lower back that I can't quite seem to kick. Any suggestions?
