First Look
The photographer finished snapping some photos of Matt and his groomsmen outside while I got ready to make my grand approach. We had pre-arranged to have first look photos, so we could see each other in our wedding attire for the first time before the ceremony. We liked the idea of enjoying the entire day together, as opposed to only getting to spend a few hours together during the ceremony and reception. It was our day, we were going to make it about us.
So our photographer, Curtis Moore, by the way (since I haven`t mentioned it yet - and he's a genius, so you all know) positioned Matt out in an open part of the yard, facing away from the house. Then I came out, and stood far behind him near the barn. I could see his cute little back-of-his-head and could only imagine what his face looked like. Then slowly I approached from behind him and walked up until I was next to him. Then he turned and looked at me, and we got to fully take each other in.
He instantly smiled when he saw me, and said "Wow." Which I loved. A moment we wouldn't have gotten had we waited until the ceremony. I got to twirl around and show him the whole dress, front and back, and then he just couldn't resist himself and had to hold me right then and there.
He gave me a good top-to-bottom look over, and I got to really take him in finally, since all I'd gotten until then was my little cheat-sneak moment from the upstairs window. And then we just got some time to really appreciate the effort we'd each gone to, to make ourselves look as great as we could for the other person. We touched each other, and kissed, and joked, and laughed, and said "We're getting married today." It was one of my favourite parts of the entire wedding day.
